Nordic Research School in Library and Information Science

Mobility support

Mobility of Ph.D. students and post-docs
NORSLIS will support doctoral students, and post-docs mobility between their "home institution" and a "guest institution" in another country. The aim is to help them to become acquainted with the work of eminent research teams and to encourage research co-operation between the post-docs and young researchers. Priority will be given to visits to NORSLIS-departments. A visit should last between 1-2 weeks.

NORSLIS also provides grants and support for short visits of senior researchers from one NORSLIS-site to another in order to exploit Nordic expertise, strengthen the local research environment, and bring the PhD students into contact with important researchers in their field.

For Ph.D. students the "home institution" is where they are registred as Ph.D. student. Post docs and senior researchers must be engaged in research and employed by one of the 15 institutions participating in NORSLIS. Post docs are those with a Ph.D. degree and in a research position, up to and including three years after completing their Ph.D.

In addition mobility support may include:
1) travel grants for high level international, or Nordic, research conferences, for example ISIC, for which the applicant has had a research paper accepted or a research paper accepted for a doctoral forum
(2) travel grants to attend other Ph.D. courses in the Nordic countries
(3) travel grants to attend other types of research courses, for example Nordic summer schools.

The guiding principle is that these grants are for high level research conferences or activities that make considerable demands upon the Ph.D. students.

Application deadlines
Next application deadlines are:
1st of February 2008
1st of June 2008
1st of September 2008

The following priority order will be applied:
1. NORSLIS PhD students
2. NORSLIS post docs
3. NORSLIS senior researchers: PhD supervisors and lecturers
Within these three groups, priority will be given to mobility within the NORSLIS network.

After completed activity please report using the mobility report form.

Acknowledgement
Papers that presented at conferences, and later published, with NORSLIS support should include an acknowledgement of the following type: "This study was supported by NORSLIS (Nordic Research School in Library and Information Science)."
