Lars Höglund is professor and Head of the Swedish School for Library and Information Science at Göteborg university and University College of Boras. In 1994 he was apponted to the first chair in the discipline in Sweden. He is tutor of 12 PhD students and has given a large number of PhD-courses. Currently there are 33 PhD candidates in the programme.

With a background in Sociology he became a docent at university of Umeå in 1989 and later lecturer in Media and Communication Studies at the Mid-Sweden university (1992-93). His main research interest is concerned with the transfer of information, communication, information behaviour and information systems. He has published books on Information and Knowledge, on Libraries, Culture and Social Intelligence, and on Information Behaviour in. Journal articles and research monographs are concerned with communication, information management and use of information in R&D-work as well as on information environments in organizations.

He is chairing the editorial board of the journals Human IT, Swedish Library Research and Information Review and was editor of The New Review of Information Behaviour 2000 and 2001.
