Aira Lepik is professor at the Information Studies Department and Head of Graduate School of Social Sciences at Tallinn Pedagogical University. Her research experience includes reading and literacy research, marketing of library services, quality of library services, performance measurement and evaluation of research libraries.

In teaching she has among other things specialized in: library marketing; comparative and international librarianship; European integration and information market; contemporary librarianship; library performance measurement.

She has about 80 research publications and she is on the editorial board of five journals in Estonia, UK and Lithuania. During the years she has been involved in a number of international projects (IFLA, IRA etc) within the library field. She has been elected the Member of Standing Committee of Section of Education and Training of International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions for two terms, 1995-1999 and 2001-2005, she was a secretary of the Section during 1997-1999.

She is Chairperson of the Research Council of the National Library of Estonia, member of Council of Tallinn Pedagogical University. She has received research grants from national (Estonian Science Foundation) and several international funds (British council, UNESCO etc).
